2017 Prudential RideLondon Classique

Of all the various editions of these races I have photographed, this was the first rainy one – and it was a tough one. It was only drizzling when I arrived at Charing Cross (the shortest trip to a race of the season, of any seasons) but as soon as I left the media centre, it started to rain properly and it didn’t really let up until the end. Which was not too far away, as this was just an hour and half criterium race essentially. We can argue about the merits of that, but the fact that the organisers ponied up €100k (which is probably not much less than the combined prize money of ALL the other races this year) is definitely admirable. I just wish the riders could show what they can do on a longer and tougher course. Maybe the same course as the men? It worked for the Tour de Yorkshire… Just saying.
