It was a little more than a month ago, when I almost froze to death on the moto whilst covering (Liege)-Bastogne-Liege. That was one of the most miserable days I’ve ever experienced on a motorbike. Today was the rather different. It was sunny and the mercury reached 25 degrees, though in my padded jacket, it felt more like 30 degrees. What a difference a month makes.
The first stage of the Bira brought the first victory for Jolien D’Hoore in the colours of Boels and she was clearly thrilled. Tomorrow will be another sunny stage, but it seems the rain, or at cloud cover will arrive on Friday.
