I’m not one for getting stressed out when shooting races. Mostly because I meticulously plan what I want to do well in advance, but if part of the plan doesn’t come off then there’s no point getting stressed about it. It won’t change the situation, just move on to plan B, or C. Yet this morning I had a definite nervous feeling ahead of the race. It was only when I left the hotel that I realised why… It was the first race I’ve covered on my own since Tour of California! Having two of us at races certainly makes the job easier, as there’s more photo opportunities and you can take more risks, knowing there’s someone else out getting shots it’s not the end of the world if you try something and it doesn’t work.
The race was pretty quiet until the final laps where CANYON//SRAM threw everything to break Boels’ stranglehold on the race. It didn’t quite get them the top step but it’s great to see PFP getting back on the podium after a tough few years.
Next stop is the Boels Rental Ladies Tour. It’s going to be a long day in the car on Sunday singing along to French radio!
