Today could have gone better… about an hour into the race the peloton sped by and I went to jump on the moto again but it wouldn’t start. Nothing, not even a splutter coming from the engine. After a few frantic calls another moto was on it’s way to rescue me, then suddenly the moto came back from the dead and we were back in the hunt. It meant we missed an hour or so of the race but at least we didn’t miss the finish!
The day did have a happier end though. For the last three years I’ve been shooting for Clara’s previous team, Cervélo Bigla. I’ve seen her highs and lows and development over the years along with her quirks: The harder the effort she’s making on the bike, the more her head tilts to the side. So it was special to see her get her first UCI win today.
