There’s no other word for yesterday’s Strade Bianche than brutal. Even in good conditions it is one of the most demanding courses on the calendar. Throw in the weather conditions and it’s hard to verbalise how tough it was.
Looking at the forecast there was no getting away from it, I was getting wet whatever happened. Turned out one of my cameras wasn’t keen on the conditions either. One of the viewfinders fogged up in the first hour, this was as much as I could see through it for the rest of the race!
I’ve just checked in my waterlogged motorbike clothes at the airport. Despite trying to dry them out last night, my bag was still 4kg heavier than on the way out!
Here’s a selection of photos from the toughest race I think I’ve ever covered.
