That’s it. The season is officially over! After 90 odd race days, 200+ days of travelling and probably close to 100,000 shutter actuations, it’s time to put the cameras down. Will it go down as a ‘Classic Season’? Probably not… Of course there were some great races along the way, but the racing more often than not felt quite defensive. Not the non-stop attacks and excitement you usually associate with women’s cycling. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s just a blip, or a product of teams being more evenly matched? Hopefully with the breakthrough of super-sprinter, Lorena Wiebes teams won’t be so willing to let races come down to bunch sprints next year? We don’t have long to wait to find out: The new season is only 11 weeks away!
