I think it was at the Healthy Ageing Tour in April, where the organisers used a helicopter almost every day to make the coverage of the race a lot more professional. It was a surprise, but what I didn’t expect that helicopters have been popping up left, right and centre throughout the season, which is, I guess, is a good sign. Race organisers take the races more seriously, they have better sponsors and the spectators at home are also enjoy a much better and more professional tv program. In a post-race Whatsapp exchange with Sean, he mentioned that it was great to see how the riders were jousting for position in the last few hundred meters – which is not something that we often get to see at women’s races!
