The week of Scandinavian races has begun! This is my favourite week of the season. The races are well organised, there’s a nice relaxed atmosphere, nice scenery, good food. If you’re thinking of coming to some races this is a great block of racing to visit. Plus there’s a few days in-between Sweden and Norway, to make a bit of a holiday of it if you’re dragging along some non-cycling fans. This is my seventh year covering the Vårgårda team time trial and the first time they have made changes: It’s moved from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon and is now shorter. I’m not sure the changes are for the better. The day between the TTT and the road race allowed riders some recovery time between the two. That chance has gone now, so if you go flat out on Saturday afternoon how much might it cost you in the final sprint in the road race? I guess this could be why CCC-Liv only started with five but Marianne Vos joins the team for the road race tomorrow.
